What’s the perfect way to cap off a sun-soaked Saturday? In our opinion, we always love heading to Duke’s Eastlake waterside oasis (with luxury yacht and Space Needle views) and extending the outdoor time beyond the dinner hour. Snag a blue-and-white-checkered table under tropical palm trees, and indulge in dishes from fish ‘n’ chips (prepared with Alaskan wild cod) to stuffed wild Mexican prawns. The restaurant’s award-winning, all-natural chowders include Cajun chicken, lobster pernod and Northwest seafood chowder. (Non-seafood lovers enjoy burgers, fresh salads and the extensive list of featured “Duketails” cocktails.)
With several other locations around Washington (and Seattle outposts at Alki Beach and Green Lake), Duke’s draws those actually on holiday and those pretendingthey’re on a carefree getaway. Looking for a special Mother’s Day venue? Treat mom to a mimosa or bloody Mary plus brunch splurges like eggs benedict with crab and French toast baked with Hawaiian sweet bread. In our humble opinion, life’s too short to not be on permanent vacation.
