We can’t complain; this May has been full of sunny weekends, flip-flops, breezy tanks and even a little bit of SPF 15 on our cheeks. While we would never normally turn down a good ole’ fashion barbeque, a half-cooked veggie patty with cheese just isn’t going to cut it for this newly converted vegetarian. This spring has us craving fresh, organic veggies and herbs straight from local Washington farms, so it’s off to Café Flora we go.
Seated in a cozy, botanical sanctuary surrounded by tall bamboo trees, trickling indoor ponds with radiant heated floors, we felt like we were on an indoor picnic. We delighted over their delicious new spring menu, featuring purely divine vegetarian, vegan and even gluten and soy-free dishes, bursting with flavor and freshness in each bit. Our favorites? We inhaled the cornmeal-fried avocados, the cheesy, melt-in-your-mouth springtime risotto and the chocolaty, marshmallowy Campfire Marquise.
Thank you, Café Flora, for saving us from our barbeque blues, and brightening up our spring even more with your savory and sweet new spring menu!

This summer, we’re especially excited about sunny beach outings, Saturday afternoon picnics, and late-night dinners out on the patio. Our favorite summertime accompaniment for all these outdoor activities is our grandma’s fresh honey lemonade recipe… and, oh yeah, healthy, beautiful skin. Thanks to Honeysuckle Spa in Green Lake, we’re all set.
Cozily nestled in the back of the popular Sugarcomb Salon, Honeysuckle Spa sparkles with quaint rustic charm. Using naturopathic and holistic methods to heal the skin through pure and organic ingredients, Honeysuckle Spa helped us clear up our (insert super-secret quiet voice here) acne, signs of aging, and the occasional inflammation. Plus, they use luxurious skin products like 100% Pure, Suki, and Au Naturale that are synthetic, fragrance, paraben, and toxin-free, and made with pigments from anti-oxidant rich fruits and vegetables.
We got the Honeysuckle Signature facial (including a delicious face, neck, hand and shoulder massage) and we’ve been on a happy honeymoon with our skin ever since.

We think Seattle is the most fun, most vibrant city ever! We love showing out of town friends everything there is to do and see. Recently a book-loving pal was here for a visit and we just had to go to Capitol Hill to the city’s legendary bookstore Elliott Bay, home to more than 150,000 titles that line the cedar shelves. The multi-level space boasts comfy reading chairs and a cafe in the back, where tasty treats include coffee and seasonal, local foods.
Over the past decade-plus, the author reading series has hosted more than 3,000 afternoons and evenings of poetry, fiction and nonfiction topics. Some of the world’s preeminent writers have read here (in Japanese, Spanish, Arabic, French and Estonian, among other languages), as well as many “unknowns” who have gone on to make a name for themselves.
Bookworms, eat your hearts out.

Yeah, we’ve heard that rule… If you were around for a trend’s previous incarnation then you’re too old to participate in said trend this time around. We call BS on that! Yes, photographic evidence of our former neon phase exists and while it is mortifying, we’re not going to let that stop us from hopping on that bandwagon one more time. Albeit in a much more refined and tasteful manner. Promise.
We are loving this glam fluorescent pink necklace from Shopbop. This striking piece will easily pump up the volume on any casual summer outfit. It’s a statement necklace that has a lot to say, starting with “here I am!” And soon it will be in our jewelry box!
We are neat freaks, to put it mildly, so when we had twin boys insanity ensued that has kept our blood pressure on a constant high. We thought we were a good mom when we bought them Lego’s, encouraging little engineers, but once those freaking pieces are out of the box they are literally everywhere, and for always.
But we found a genius home for them. The Swoop Bag! It makes clean up and storage easy. It’s a LEGO bag and play mat in one. We got a bunch of them for all their toys (and we use it as a laundry bag too). Love.
Amidst our spring-cleaning fervor, we cleaned out the old underwear drawer, and realized we were past due for some new underpinnings—we had far too many “laundry day” panties. It was the perfect excuse to stock up on the ultra-feminine, luxurious, romantic pieces from SiBelle by Sibel Mesta.
We adore her 100% silk-chiffon sheer panties—not to mention the camis, garter skirts and stretch-silk bras. We love an underwear makeover—and so does our man!
